Training Description: Stormwater infrastructure is one of the elements of site plan review. While the purposes of stormwater infrastructure may seem straightforward – capture and divert water – there are benefits to adding native vegetation where applicable. Native plants have positive impacts on the communities they are implemented in, along with the added opportunity to create more aesthetic stormwater infrastructures. This training session will discuss the benefits of adding aesthetic native plants to commonly used stormwater management practices, as well as maintaining the structures, reading site plans, and touching on how the new wetland regulations will impact planning.

Presenters:

Corrina Aldrich has been working for the Washington County SWCD for 15 years and currently serves as the District Manager. Corrina has overseen several projects on agricultural stormwater best management practices and has spent many years bottomisting landowners with pond management.

Ashley Leemans is a Natural Resources Technician for the Washington County SWCD with a special interest in water quality. Ashley bottomists landowners in applying native plants to their landscape to mitigate stormwater issues and protect our valuable surface water resources.
